Direct flights between Peshawar and Lahore are set to begin on November 9, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced. The launch date coincides with Iqbal Day, and the governor said the air link is being restored in collaboration with South Airways.

According to the announcement, the new service will reduce travel time between the two cities to roughly 50 minutes to an hour. The route will initially operate four flights a week, with the first flight scheduled to depart Peshawar for Lahore at around 1pm on November 9.

Governor Kundi said the service would offer a convenient travel option for people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who live in Lahore, including businesspeople and employees who regularly commute between the two cities. Authorities also plan to add more flights on the route in the future as demand grows.

The governor noted that the direct Peshawar–Quetta air service is already operating successfully. He added that work is underway to explore air connections to Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral and Parachinar, with further measures planned to link different parts of the province through air travel.

Kundi also pledged to continue efforts aimed at restoring Peshawar's reputation as the "City of Flowers." The new route is expected to strengthen connectivity between the provincial capital and Punjab's largest city, supporting business travel and making it easier for families to move between the two regions.
