Fact-check: Screenshot falsely shows Kasim Khan discussing mother's reported plans to remarry

A screenshot circulating online claims that Kasim Khan, the youngest son of former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan, discussed his mother's alleged plans to remarry during an interview with British journalist Christiane Amanpour.

The claim is false. Neither Amanpour asked Kasim Khan about his mother remarrying nor did he make any such comments during the interview.

On August 5, a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared a screenshot purportedly showing a recent interview of Kasim Khan, the son of jailed former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan, on Christiane Amanpour Presents: The Ex Files.

The post claimed that Amanpour asked Kasim Khan whether his brother was in Switzerland with his “new father”, to which he allegedly confirmed that his mother, Jemima Goldsmith, had remarried.

The post had received more than 3,246 views and 67 likes at the time of writing.

Identical claims were shared elsewhere X and Facebook as well.

Kasim Khan did not make any such comments about his mother or her alleged plans to remarry.

Geo Fact Check reviewed the full, more than 41-minute interview, which was posted on YouTube on August 4. During the interview, Kasim Khan spoke at length about his father’s imprisonment, the crackdown on his father’s political party and other issues concerning Pakistan.

At no point did Amanpour ask him about his mother reportedly planning to remarry, nor did Kasim Khan discuss his mother or a new stepfather.

Kasim Khan's parents, Imran Khan and Jemima Goldsmith, divorced in 2004.

Verdict: Kasim Khan did not discuss his mother's alleged remarriage or a new stepfather during the interview with Christiane Amanpour.
