Government Sets Early Next Year Deadline for M-4 Motorway Six-Lane Expansion
The 53-kilometer Faisalabad-Pindi Bhattian section of the M-4 Motorway will be upgraded from four to six lanes, with officials ordered to speed up construction and finalize modern rest area designs within a week.

The federal government has set a target of completing the expansion of the Faisalabad-Pindi Bhattian section of the M-4 Motorway by the start of next year, upgrading the busy route from four lanes to six.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced the timeline during an inspection visit to the ongoing project, saying the government intends to present residents of Faisalabad with a modern motorway as a New Year gift. The 53-kilometer expansion addresses a demand that Faisalabad residents have raised for roughly three decades, according to the minister.
During his visit to the Kamalpur Interchange, Khan reviewed construction activity and directed officials to accelerate the work by deploying additional machinery and workers. He said the wider highway would reduce traffic congestion, improve travel conditions and help lower the risk of road accidents.
The upgraded section will also feature landscaping, including trees along both sides of the road, green belts in the central median and date palm trees. The government further plans to build modern rest areas for passengers traveling between Faisalabad and Pindi Bhattian, with Khan ordering officials to finalize the rest area designs within one week and to ensure proper lighting along the entire stretch.
The M-4 expansion is part of broader efforts to improve Pakistan's road infrastructure and ease movement on one of the country's key intercity corridors. Completion by early next year would mark a significant upgrade for commuters and freight traffic traveling through the Faisalabad region.
