Pakistan's first locally assembled battery electric vehicle is set to receive its official price tag on November 6, when Nishat Group's OMODA & JAECOO brand reveals ex-factory pricing for the JAECOO J5 EV. The electric SUV was first showcased at the Pakistan Auto Show in September at Lahore's Expo Centre and has since become one of the most anticipated new-energy launches of the year.

The J5 EV is being assembled in CKD form at NexGen Auto's Faisalabad plant, the same facility where the J5 HEV and JAECOO J7 PHEV have already surpassed 15,000 units in combined production. The first electric unit rolled off the line in October, a milestone local media have described as the first battery electric vehicle assembled in Pakistan. Local assembly is expected to support vehicle availability, spare parts supply and after-sales service, while also opening the door for bank financing of EVs.

The development builds on the foundation laid since OMODA & JAECOO entered the market on August 1, 2025, backed by a USD 100 million investment. The brands have crossed 10,000 customer deliveries in their first year and recently celebrated 15,000 units, supported by Nishat Group's market presence and service network.

For Pakistani buyers, price is only one factor in the EV decision. Range for intercity travel, charging availability, running cost per kilometre versus petrol and long-term support all weigh heavily. The J5 EV addresses several of these with a claimed range suitable for daily city driving and many intercity trips, fast DC charging, home charging capability and an eight-year battery warranty.

The vehicle is also tailored to how Pakistani families use their cars, featuring a spacious cabin with rear air vents and charging ports, a panoramic roof, ventilated seats for hot summers and a 540-degree camera for tight parking and crowded markets. A 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load system allows the car to power appliances or equipment, a feature with particular appeal in a country where load-shedding remains a concern for many households.

The J5 EV sits on the strength of Nishat Group, whose interests span textiles, cement, banking, insurance, power and agriculture. NexGen Auto has drawn on that backing to build a dealership network, local assembly operations and a service organisation around OMODA & JAECOO, offering first-time EV buyers added reassurance. Official pricing, booking details and delivery timelines will be announced on November 6 through OMODA & JAECOO's official channels and dealerships.
