Punjab Traffic Police Offers Free Driver Verification Service for Transporters
Transporters across Punjab can now verify drivers' criminal records, licences, and challans free of charge through the provincial traffic police.

The Punjab Traffic Police has launched a free verification service that allows transporters to check the criminal records, driving licences, and traffic challans of prospective drivers before hiring them. The facility, which also provides records of drivers previously involved in accidents, is available throughout the province via the relevant traffic offices.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at encouraging transporters to screen drivers thoroughly before offering them jobs. The traffic police have also urged transport operators to prioritise the hiring of healthy and properly trained drivers, describing the verification service as a practical tool to make hiring decisions safer.
According to the Punjab Traffic Police, roads under its management have recorded a 35 percent reduction in fatal accidents this year. The department linked the improvement to its ongoing efforts to prevent accidents and protect lives, and said the new verification facility is expected to contribute further to road safety.
Muhammad Waqas Nazir said the traffic police's work to curb accidents and safeguard human lives is continuing. He added that the driver record verification service will help reduce traffic accidents and make the province's roads safer for both passengers and freight operators.
The move gives transporters a no-cost way to confirm that drivers hold valid licences and have no serious violations or accident history on record. It also places a stronger emphasis on due diligence at the hiring stage, a step officials believe can improve overall standards in the transport sector and lower the risk of incidents on Punjab's roads.
