The government is planning to transform the National Job Portal (NJP) into an artificial intelligence-driven recruitment platform as part of its efforts to modernize hiring processes and improve employment services across the country. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has directed the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to integrate AI technology into the portal, and work on these enhancements has already begun.
The proposed AI-enabled system will match job seekers with suitable positions based on their skills, qualifications, and experience, helping candidates find opportunities more efficiently while assisting public sector organizations in streamlining the shortlisting and recruitment process. By leveraging AI, the portal is expected to generate valuable labor market insights, enabling authorities to identify sector-wise workforce gaps, track emerging employment trends, and support policy decisions for economic development.
Data protection, transparency, and human oversight will remain key priorities, ensuring that recruitment processes are fair and algorithmic bias is minimized. The portal currently hosts over 2.1 million professional CVs, with 205 ministries, divisions, and departments registered and more than 33,800 job postings and recruitment events published since its launch.
Established in September 2020 under the federal government’s “Digital Transformation of Pakistan” initiative, the National Job Portal serves as a centralized and automated platform connecting job seekers with verified public sector vacancies. By requiring federal ministries and departments to post job openings through a secure and transparent system, the portal has helped promote merit-based recruitment while providing a reliable hub for employment opportunities nationwide. The planned AI integration is set to further enhance its efficiency, making it easier for both applicants and public sector organizations to navigate the recruitment landscape.
