EOBI Pension Update 2025: Benefits, Amount, Eligibility, & How to Check Online

The Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) is a government pension program in Pakistan that provides monthly financial support to private-sector employees after retirement. In 2025, EOBI pensions saw a 15% increase, and the minimum monthly pension was officially raised to Rs. 11,500. While there are widespread rumors about a Rs. 50,000 pension being approved, no official confirmation has been issued by the government or EOBI as of October 2025.

EOBI supports four main types of beneficiaries: retired workers through the old-age pension, surviving family members through the survivor pension, disabled employees via the invalidity pension, and workers with less than 15 years of service through a one-time old-age grant. To qualify for any of these, the individual must have worked for an EOBI-registered employer, with regular contributions made on their behalf, and must meet the retirement age criteria — 60 years for men and 55 for women. A minimum of 15 years of registered employment is required for full pension eligibility.

One of the latest innovations in 2025 is the launch of the EOBI Sahulat Card. This smart card allows pensioners to receive monthly payments directly and withdraw funds at ATMs. It also offers additional benefits like discounts on medicines, hospital services, and purchases at selected stores. With biometric verification features, it aims to increase security and reduce fraud. The Sahulat Card also eliminates the need for standing in queues or dealing with intermediaries, allowing beneficiaries to receive and track payments easily.

The current pension amounts reflect the 15% increase approved earlier in the year. While the minimum is now Rs. 11,500, individuals with a long history of contributions may receive between Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 30,000 or more. However, the figure of Rs. 50,000 being circulated online remains unofficial and should not be treated as confirmed until the government releases a formal notification.

To apply for the EOBI pension or the Sahulat Card, eligible individuals can register online at www.eobi.gov.pk. They must fill in their details under the “Insured Person / Beneficiary” section and upload required documents such as CNIC, proof of employment, contribution record, and a recent photograph. Those applying for survivor pensions must also provide a death certificate. In-person applications can be submitted at regional EOBI offices in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, and Multan.

Beneficiaries can check their pension status online by visiting the EOBI website and entering their CNIC or registration number. A mobile app and SMS-based service are also being rolled out to further simplify access to pension information.

As of October 2025, key developments include the ongoing distribution of Sahulat Cards across Pakistan, continued expansion of mobile and banking services for pension disbursement, and the confirmed 15% pension raise that became active in January. Anyone seeking accurate information about EOBI benefits or updates should consult the official EOBI website or visit a regional office. The widely discussed Rs. 50,000 monthly pension remains unverified and should be treated as speculation until an official announcement is made.
