Punjab Hospitals to Get QR Panic Buttons for Emergency Help
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority is installing QR code panic buttons in government hospitals, allowing citizens to quickly connect with emergency services via call, chat, or video, and access a virtual blood bank.

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched an initiative to install QR code panic buttons in government hospitals across the province, including Lahore, to provide citizens with rapid access to emergency assistance. This technology-driven step aims to enhance public safety and streamline emergency response during critical medical situations.
Under the project, QR codes will be placed in hospitals in phases. By scanning the code with a smartphone, individuals will be directly connected to the PSCA system, which will automatically display the hospital's details. Users can then register their contact number and request help through Emergency Helpline 15, live chat, or video call, ensuring a quick and coordinated response.
A key feature of the initiative is its integration with the Safe City Virtual Blood Bank. This will help patients and their attendants arrange urgently needed blood by connecting them with available donors of the required blood group. The system aims to make the process of finding blood donors faster and more accessible, especially during emergencies.
The QR panic button facility extends beyond blood-related emergencies. Citizens can use it to seek assistance from Safe City for various other urgent situations, providing a single digital platform for multiple emergency needs. Additionally, citizens can call Emergency Helpline 15 and press option 4 for guidance on blood requirements and basic first aid.
According to the PSCA, the installation of QR emergency panic buttons in government hospitals is a significant milestone in leveraging modern technology to improve public services and strengthen emergency response mechanisms. The authority remains committed to expanding technology-driven public safety services across Punjab.
