Six Militants Killed in Balochistan Operation: Security Sources

Security sources reported that six alleged militants were killed during an operation by security forces in Balochistan, conducted under Operation Shaaban-II. The operation targeted individuals suspected of being linked to the group referred to as Fitna al-Hindustan, which security sources described as India-backed.

The operation was carried out in the Saran Tangi area based on intelligence reports. Security sources stated that nine suspected individuals were also detained during this operation. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from those killed, according to the sources.

This action took place a day after six Pakistan Army personnel, including Captain Abuzar Farooq and Lieutenant Sheraz Babar, were martyred during an exchange of fire in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In that incident, eight militants identified with Fitna al-Khawarij were also killed, as per security sources.

According to a report published by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), violence has been concentrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan since 2021. The report, covering the second quarter of 2026, identified these provinces as the primary hotspots for violence in Pakistan.

The CRSS report noted that KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of violence-related fatalities across the country in that quarter. KP saw over 61% of the deaths, with 475 fatalities, while Balochistan reported 265 deaths, comprising 34% of the total. KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases, while Balochistan registered 94 incidents.
