Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is preparing to meet the CEOs of major global retail companies, including Amazon, Alibaba and Walmart, after a high-level meeting in Islamabad finalized the invitations and arrangements. The discussions in Islamabad centered on bringing foreign investment into Pakistan, showcasing the country’s economic potential and geopolitical relevance, and aligning national trade policies with evolving global market trends.

Federal ministers highlighted the government’s focus on modernizing agriculture, creating a stable environment for long-term investment, and strengthening partnerships with the private sector to support job creation and sustainable economic expansion. They emphasized that Pakistan’s large consumer base, improving infrastructure and strategic geographic location make it an attractive destination for multinational corporations.

SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan called the planned engagements with top global CEOs a potential “game-changer” for Pakistan’s economy. He noted that these meetings could open the door to increased foreign investment, enhanced digital trade, and stronger global supply chain integration. The government views these upcoming interactions as an opportunity to position Pakistan as a competitive player in international markets while fostering innovation and economic resilience.
