The Kyutech MEXT PNST Fellowship 2026 offers a fully funded opportunity for students from developing countries or non-space-faring nations to pursue advanced degrees in nano-satellite technology in Japan. Organized by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), in collaboration with the Government of Japan and Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), this program is designed for highly motivated candidates aiming to contribute to space technology and development in their home countries.

The fellowship supports up to three students for the master’s program (2 years) and up to three students for the doctoral program (3 years). Fellows will study in the Space Engineering International Course (SEIC) at Kyutech’s Graduate School of Engineering, where they will gain hands-on experience in nano-satellite development and testing using state-of-the-art facilities.

Financial support includes a monthly stipend of 144,000 JPY, round-trip airfare from the fellow’s home country to Japan, and full coverage of tuition, matriculation, and examination fees. This makes the PNST fellowship an ideal option for students seeking to study in Japan without financial burden. The program begins in October 2026, with final selection decisions expected in March 2026.

Eligible applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1991, be nationals of developing or non-space-faring countries, and be officially nominated by their home institution. A bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent) is required for the master’s program, while a relevant master’s degree is necessary for doctoral applicants. Candidates should also demonstrate the potential to contribute to their home country’s space or technological sector after completing the fellowship.

Required application materials include a nomination form, application form, academic transcripts, diploma certificates, proof of English proficiency, CV, personal academic background, three referee reports, and any additional supporting documents. Applicants must register online and submit a complete application package by November 30, 2025.

This program provides a unique platform for international collaboration in space research and offers a pathway to gain advanced education and training in Japan’s leading space engineering institution.
