Harvard Visiting Research Scholarship Program 2025–2026 Now Open for Applications

The Harvard Visiting Research Scholarship Program 2025–2026 is a fully funded opportunity offered by the Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) for international scholars seeking to enhance their research skills and collaborate with Harvard faculty. This six-week in-person residency in Boston, Massachusetts, is designed to support academic excellence, promote cross-border partnerships, and provide global recognition to scholars working in public health and related fields.

To be eligible, applicants must have a relevant doctoral degree or, in exceptional cases, a master’s degree, and be in good standing with their home institution. They must hold a valid passport, meet English language requirements, and be able to obtain a J-1 visa. Collaboration with a Harvard faculty sponsor is essential, and applicants must demonstrate a history of meaningful joint academic work or the potential to build such collaborations.

Harvard faculty members are required to initiate the application on behalf of their international collaborators. They must be affiliated with a Harvard school or hospital and demonstrate a clear commitment to mentoring the visiting scholar throughout the residency. They are also responsible for coordinating academic appointments and ensuring departmental support for the visiting researcher’s presence on campus.

Required materials for the application include the visiting scholar’s name, CV, country of origin, current position, a one- to two-page description of the collaborative research, and two letters of reference. The completed application form must be submitted through the HGHI’s official website by the faculty sponsor.
