The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that branches of all commercial banks, including National Bank of Pakistan branches handling customs collection, will observe extended working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, to facilitate over-the-counter payment of government duties and taxes. The banks have been advised to keep relevant branches open for as long as needed to support Special Clearing for government transactions conducted by NIFT.
This decision by the central bank follows a request from the Federal Board of Revenue to ease payment processes for taxpayers. Banks are also required to ensure uninterrupted access to online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, allowing taxpayers to conveniently make online payments of government duties and taxes.
