Launch of Xiaomi Electric Cars in Pakistan Delayed as Air Link Cites Surging Demand in China

Air Link Communication has announced that the much-anticipated launch of Xiaomi electric cars in Pakistan has been delayed due to a sharp rise in domestic demand within China. The company revealed that Xiaomi is currently prioritizing the production of left-hand drive vehicles for the Chinese market, where consumer interest in electric vehicles (EVs) has exceeded expectations. As a result, the rollout of Xiaomi’s EV lineup in right-hand drive markets like Pakistan has been postponed until further notice.

Originally, the launch was expected to take place this year, marking Xiaomi’s debut in Pakistan’s fast-growing electric vehicle segment. However, given the surge in orders from China, production capacity is being diverted to meet domestic needs before global expansion. This decision underscores Xiaomi’s cautious yet strategic approach to scaling its automotive business, ensuring that supply and product quality align with rising market expectations.

Despite the delay, Air Link Communication remains optimistic about the long-term potential of introducing Xiaomi electric cars in Pakistan. The company is in close coordination with both Xiaomi and relevant government authorities to secure necessary approvals for future imports and potential local assembly. Air Link believes that once the vehicles are launched, they could significantly boost the company’s revenue—potentially by more than 200%—through direct sales, distribution partnerships, and after-sales services.

In addition to its automotive ventures, Air Link is actively expanding its business portfolio. The company has recently diversified into the home appliances sector, signaling a shift toward broader consumer electronics manufacturing and distribution. This expansion aligns with its strategy to reduce dependence on smartphone sales and tap into new, high-growth product categories.

Furthermore, Air Link has announced plans to relocate its operations to the Sundar Green Special Economic Zone (SEZ) by mid-2026. The move is aimed at enhancing manufacturing efficiency, leveraging tax incentives, and establishing a sustainable production base with modern infrastructure. The new facility will also support eco-friendly initiatives and localized assembly, strengthening Air Link’s position as a key player in Pakistan’s industrial and technology landscape.

With these developments, Air Link Communication continues to position itself as a leading force in Pakistan’s evolving tech ecosystem, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and long-term business growth while awaiting the eventual introduction of Xiaomi’s electric vehicles into the local market.
