Solar system prices in Pakistan have dropped significantly, offering households and small businesses an ideal opportunity to switch to clean energy before the next high-demand season. The decline in prices comes as winter reduces overall power consumption, easing pressure on electricity demand and making solar solutions more affordable.
Market data shows that prices for residential and small commercial solar setups ranging from 5kW to 15kW have fallen by up to Rs. 150,000. A 5kW system, which includes solar panels, an inverter, and essential accessories, is now available for Rs. 550,000. A 7kW system capable of powering two 1.5-ton inverter air conditioners, a refrigerator, fans, lights, and a washing machine is priced at Rs. 625,000. Larger systems have also seen notable reductions, with a 10kW setup costing Rs. 900,000 and a 15kW system now available for Rs. 1.3 million, suitable for bigger homes or small commercial units running multiple heavy appliances simultaneously.
The price drop follows President Asif Ali Zardari’s temporary suspension of the 16% General Sales Tax (GST) on solar consumers, along with a review directed to the Federal Tax Ombudsman, making solar installation even more financially attractive. Industry experts indicate that the combination of reduced equipment costs and tax relief creates one of the most favorable times for Pakistanis to adopt solar energy, reduce electricity bills, and move toward sustainable energy solutions.
