The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Jhelum on Sunday, November 8, with some areas facing outages of up to 10 hours as the utility carries out annual maintenance and development work.

According to the shutdown schedule shared by IESCO, most 11kV feeders will remain off from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM for routine maintenance, construction and development activity, and grid transformer upkeep. The longest single outage is in Rawalpindi Cantt, where the Islamabad Feed Mill (IFM) feeder near Baga Sheikhan will be switched off from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Several other feeders will also exceed the standard five-hour window. The New GHQ feeder in Rawalpindi Cantt is scheduled for an 8-hour outage from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while maintenance on the Taxila-HIT 132kV transmission line in Attock is listed from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A second group of Chaklala-area feeders will be off from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

In Islamabad, the affected areas include F-6, G-6, G-7, Tarlai, Rawal, Khanna Dak and Bara Kahu, covering localities such as Margalla Town, Orchard Scheme, Ghouri Town, Park Enclave, Bahria Enclave and the IT Park. Feeders linked to power transformer maintenance at the 132kV F-6 grid station will also affect Jinnah Super, Pak Secretariat and State Life.

In Rawalpindi City, construction feeders in the Satellite Town division will be shut down from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, including Al-Noor Colony, KRL Complex, Airport Housing Society and Holy Family Hospital. In Rawalpindi Cantt, outages cover Rawat, Mandra, Chaklala, Cantt and Tariqabad. In Jhelum, annual maintenance feeders in the Jhelum-I division will be off from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, affecting Abbas Pura, Kutchery, Ajmal Shaheed and Nougran.

IESCO said no 11kV feeder or grid transformer outages are listed for Attock, so ordinary consumers there will not be affected, though the Taxila-HIT transmission line work will impact the HIT FECTO consumer grid from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The company apologized for the inconvenience and asked consumers for their cooperation, noting that the same maintenance programme also disrupted power across the region on November 7 and November 4.
