Faridabad Employee Quits After Manager Labels Work-From-Home as ‘Vacation’ Amid Toxic Office Culture

A 23-year-old employee in Faridabad has resigned after his manager dismissed work-from-home days as “vacation,” sparking discussion online about toxic corporate culture. In a post that went viral on Reddit, the employee described what he called an unhealthy and demotivating work environment marked by unrealistic expectations, excessive workloads, and inconsistent management behavior.

According to his account, the issues began when he was assigned remote tasks but later discovered that his work-from-home days had been recorded as vacation leave, despite completing his responsibilities on time. He said the manager repeatedly implied that working from home was equivalent to taking time off, disregarding his productivity and punctuality.

The employee also highlighted rigid office rules that added to his frustration, including strict limits on arriving late, restricted leave approvals, and significant pressure when returning after even a single day off. He said that instead of proper task allocation, he was frequently handed last-minute or unclear assignments and expected to manage heavy workloads without support.

He explained that the combination of unfair treatment, harsh policies, and mounting stress eventually pushed him to resign. In his post, he noted that he felt “no regret” about leaving and preferred prioritizing mental well-being over staying in what he viewed as a toxic workplace.

The online response has been largely sympathetic, with many users sharing similar experiences and calling for better awareness about employee rights, healthy work culture, and the legitimacy of remote work in modern offices.
