NADRA Streamlines CNIC Renewal and Replacement Process Across Pakistan

The National Database and Registration Authority has launched a nationwide network of e-franchise centers to streamline the renewal and replacement of Computerized National Identity Cards. Under the new system, citizens can access CNIC services through authorized e-franchise outlets in their local areas instead of visiting NADRA registration centers.

Initially introduced as a pilot project with 18 centers, the initiative has expanded to more than 2,000 e-franchise locations across Pakistan following its reported success. According to NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali, the service does not require applicants to own a smartphone or have internet access. Citizens can visit a nearby center, provide their CNIC number, and complete biometric verification using photographs and fingerprints already stored in NADRA’s database.

The e-franchise facilities currently offer CNIC renewal and reissuance of lost identity cards, and applicants are not required to file a police report for these services. Addressing data security concerns, NADRA stated that citizens can track access to their personal information through the Pak-Identity app, which enables users to monitor when and how their CNIC details, fingerprints, or QR codes are accessed.
