The federal government recorded petroleum levy collections of Rs. 371 billion between July and September, reflecting a 42 percent increase from Rs. 261 billion during the same period last year. In the first quarter alone, revenue grew by Rs. 110 billion, driven largely by policy adjustments and compliance with International Monetary Fund requirements. Pakistan reported a budget surplus equal to 1.6 percent of GDP, while the primary balance stood at 2.7 percent, signaling fiscal consolidation under ongoing reform efforts. Additional revenue sources included Rs. 10 billion from the carbon levy and Rs. 3 billion from the electric vehicle adoption levy. Under the National Finance Commission Award, provinces collectively received Rs. 1,775 billion in transfers, with Punjab receiving Rs. 882 billion, Sindh Rs. 441 billion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs. 287 billion, and Balochistan Rs. 164 billion. The figures highlight stronger fiscal performance in the early months of the fiscal year, supported by higher petroleum tax receipts and improved provincial revenue distribution.
