Karachi Mayor has expressed gratitude to China for donating 58 modern solar-powered street lights to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, a contribution aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and public safety. The newly installed lights are designed to enhance road visibility during night hours, helping reduce accidents and making key routes safer for daily commuters, pedestrians, and residents.
These solar lights are equipped with advanced technology capable of storing energy efficiently throughout the day and providing strong illumination at night. This feature will help lower the city’s electricity consumption and reduce dependence on the traditional power grid, offering significant energy savings for the municipality.
The donation also supports Karachi’s broader shift toward environmentally friendly solutions. By reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy use, the initiative contributes to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable urban environment. City officials noted that such partnerships are essential for improving municipal services and modernizing public lighting systems across Karachi.
Residents are expected to benefit from better-lit roads, improved nighttime visibility, and enhanced safety, especially in areas where traditional street lighting was inadequate or frequently affected by outages. The project is seen as a positive step toward upgrading Karachi’s public infrastructure through international cooperation and modern technology.
