China’s Hebei Juhang Energy Technology Group has announced plans to establish a large-scale solar panel manufacturing facility in Pakistan, aiming to meet growing domestic demand while also targeting export markets. The development underscores the growing interest of Chinese investors in Pakistan’s renewable energy and high-tech sectors.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting in Islamabad between the Chinese delegation, led by Hebei Juhang Energy Group Chairman Wang Jianbin, and Pakistan’s Minister for the Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh. The discussion, facilitated by the China-Pakistan Business Forum, focused on potential investments worth billions of dollars in solar energy, advanced manufacturing, and related technology sectors.

Minister Sheikh welcomed the initiative, describing it as “a great time and a golden opportunity for investment in Pakistan.” The Pakistani government has offered substantial support for the project, including 6,000 acres of land and incentives under Special Economic Zones, such as a 10-year income tax holiday. Sheikh emphasized that Pakistan’s economy is stabilizing and highlighted key sectors showing growth potential, including agriculture, solar energy, information technology, chemicals, and manufacturing.

He urged the Chinese investors to expedite feasibility studies and establish joint ventures, reinforcing the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China and promoting sustainable, green-technology investments in the country. This move could significantly boost Pakistan’s renewable energy capacity, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the bilateral economic collaboration between the two nations.
