The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced a significant move toward digital transformation by transitioning all airports in the country to a fully cashless system. In partnership with the State Bank of Pakistan, the initiative will enable QR code-based payments across airport services, retail outlets, and restaurants, promoting a modern and secure travel experience.
The rollout will begin with the first phase at Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore airports, followed by expansion to Faisalabad, Multan, and Sialkot. By replacing cash transactions with digital payments, the program aims to enhance convenience for passengers, ensure greater transparency in financial operations, and strengthen overall security measures.
This development aligns with Pakistan’s broader fintech and digital economy goals, positioning the aviation sector as a key driver of financial innovation and technological adoption. The PAA’s initiative represents a step toward smarter, more efficient airport management and an improved passenger experience nationwide.
