BRUSSELS: All departure flights at Belgium’s major airports will be cancelled on Wednesday, November 26, due to a nationwide strike, disrupting travel across Europe. The three-day strike, which began on November 24, targets government austerity measures, including changes to labor laws, benefits, and pensions aimed at addressing Belgium’s rising debt.
Brussels-Zaventem Airport, the country’s largest, will halt all departures and cancel 110 of 203 incoming flights. Airlines are responsible for rerouting affected passengers, while 93 inbound flights are expected to operate as scheduled. Around 30 flights to the UK, operated by British Airways, easyJet, and Brussels Airlines, will be impacted.
Brussels South Charleroi Airport, a hub for Ryanair, will see full cancellations of arrivals and departures, according to official statements. Travelers are advised to check with their airlines for updates and plan accordingly as the strike causes significant disruptions to Belgium and European air travel.
