Pakistan's National Incubation Centres Win Digital Policy Excellence Award in London
Ignite's NIC Program has been honoured at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation Digital Excellence Awards 2026, earning Pakistan international recognition for its push to grow tech entrepreneurship.

Pakistan's technology entrepreneurship push has earned international recognition, with the National Incubation Centres (NIC) Program run by Ignite, the National Technology Fund, winning the Digital Policy and Regulatory Excellence Award at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) Digital Excellence Awards 2026 in London.
The award was presented during the CTO's 125th anniversary celebrations and recognises the NIC Program as a significant initiative for fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and digital economic development. Pakistan also picked up recognition in two other categories, standing out among the organisation's 56 member countries.
Officials credited Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, whose focus on digital transformation, entrepreneurship and institutional collaboration has helped reinforce the country's technology development agenda. The ministry described the achievement as reflecting a broader push toward an inclusive, sustainable and globally competitive tech ecosystem, aligned with the Prime Minister's vision of a digitally empowered Pakistan.
Under the ministry's guidance, Ignite has developed the NIC Program as a flagship national initiative that connects entrepreneurial talent with the resources, expertise and networks needed to launch and scale technology-driven businesses. Through its nationwide network, the programme offers startups structured incubation, mentorship, business development support, industry connections and access to potential investors.
By combining public investment with private-sector expertise, the programme aims to bridge the gap between innovative ideas and commercially viable enterprises. Its backers say the benefits extend beyond individual startups, helping to lay the foundations of a knowledge-based economy by supporting emerging technologies and widening access to innovation opportunities.
The honour also acknowledges the work of Ignite's leadership, NIC operators, consortium partners, mentors, investors and entrepreneurs who contribute to the country's evolving startup ecosystem. Beyond the trophy itself, the CTO recognition is being seen as evidence that sustained investment in entrepreneurial infrastructure, institutional capacity and innovation can feed into national economic development.
