A graduation ceremony was held at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in Wuhan on November 19 to honor 190 Pakistani agriculture specialists who completed their training as part of the second batch of 1,000 participants under the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Capacity-Building Initiative. The three-month program, which began on August 24, provided specialized training in smart agriculture, fruit and vegetable production and processing, and aquaculture and processing. At the same time, 86 specialists undertook parallel training in Sichuan Province.
This milestone follows the successful training of over 460 Pakistani agricultural specialists in Yangling, Shaanxi Province, reflecting the initiative’s growing contribution to Pakistan’s agricultural development. At the ceremony, Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi highlighted the strategic importance of the program, emphasizing that it goes beyond numerical achievements to strengthen human capital, enhance technical skills, and advance agricultural modernization in Pakistan.
HZAU President Yan Jianbing congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to the partnership, encouraging them to apply their knowledge practically and serve as bridges for deeper institutional cooperation between Pakistan and China. Three Pakistani trainees shared their experiences during the event, underscoring the program’s practical benefits and positive impact on their professional growth.
The initiative continues to expand, with 54 new trainees arriving at HZAU on November 10 for a three-month program focusing on seed production and processing technology. On the same day, cooperation agreements were signed between HZAU and Pakistani institutions, including the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and Government College University, Faisalabad, during the 5th Belt and Road China-Pakistan Agriculture Forum, strengthening bilateral collaboration in agriculture and research.
