The National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a public warning about the growing risk of cyber harassment, urging internet users to take prompt action to protect themselves online. The agency highlighted that online abuse can take many forms, including threatening or abusive messages, sexual harassment, blackmail, spreading false rumors, and sharing private photos or videos without consent, all of which are punishable under law and can cause serious psychological harm.
The NCCIA advised users to limit the sharing of personal information on digital platforms and to block and report anyone engaging in abusive behavior. It also recommended preserving evidence such as screenshots, messages, and call logs and seeking support from trusted friends, family members, or relevant authorities.
Cyber harassment is recognized as a criminal offense, and victims have the right to legal protection. The agency encouraged those affected to contact the NCCIA for assistance, emphasizing that individuals should not remain silent when confronted with online abuse.
