Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has turned his attention to major international competitions after a stunning performance at the Islamic Solidarity Games earlier this month. Riding the momentum of his gold medal, Arshad is now setting his sights on the upcoming Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and the prestigious Diamond League circuit.

On Wednesday, Arshad played a prominent role in the 35th National Games held at Punjab Stadium, where he had the honor of lighting the ceremonial torch. Speaking to the media, he expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support he has received throughout his career, acknowledging the crucial role of the Sports Board Punjab in providing training facilities and consistent backing.

“I am thankful to Allah for winning a medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games,” Arshad said, describing his participation in the torch relay as a moment of immense pride. His comments highlighted both his humility and focus as he prepares for the next major events on his athletic calendar.

Arshad’s gold medal-winning performance came on November 19 at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium, where he dominated the men’s javelin final with a best throw of 83.05 metres on his second attempt. After opening with a modest throw of 74.00m, he surged past the 80-metre mark with authority and maintained his lead throughout the competition. His other attempts included throws of 77.06m, a foul on the fifth attempt, and a final throw of 77.98m.

The event saw Pakistan claim a one-two finish, with Muhammad Yasir Sultan securing the silver medal with a throw of 74.43m. Nigeria’s Samuel Kure took the bronze with a throw of 75.46m. Arshad stood out as the only competitor to cross the 80-metre barrier, underlining his dominance and reaffirming his status as Pakistan’s premier javelin thrower.

With his eyes now firmly set on international glory, Arshad Nadeem aims to carry this winning form into the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Diamond League, representing Pakistan on the global athletics stage.
