The King’s Commonwealth Climate Resilience Fellowships 2026 present an incredible opportunity for professionals from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) who are actively working to combat the effects of climate change. This prestigious program, launched under the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme (KCFP), aims to support mid-career experts in developing practical, scalable, and locally driven climate resilience solutions. Designed to empower leaders from Commonwealth nations, the fellowship helps participants strengthen their leadership skills, enhance community-based climate action, and promote sustainable development in vulnerable regions.

Supported by King Charles III and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the King’s Commonwealth Climate Resilience Fellowships reflect the UK monarch’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, education, and environmental stewardship. The program focuses on increasing professional capacity within countries facing severe climate challenges such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and ecological degradation. Fellows will gain access to a global network of professionals, collaborative tools, and mentoring opportunities aimed at fostering real-world impact.

The fellowship runs for one year and is divided into three phases, combining online learning, in-person training, and applied fieldwork. The first phase is an 18-week online training program scheduled from February to July 2026, focusing on leadership, policy design, and climate adaptation strategies. The second phase will take place in Fiji in August 2026 — a five-day in-person residential program offering intensive workshops and networking sessions. The final phase involves a five-month workplace-based applied learning project from August to December 2026, where fellows will implement climate resilience initiatives in their home countries.

The King’s Commonwealth Climate Resilience Fellowship is fully funded, ensuring that all selected participants can engage without financial barriers. The fellowship covers travel, accommodation, visas, and living expenses for the in-person phase. In addition, each fellow receives £1,000 to support their applied learning project, which may include costs for travel, materials, or digital tools. The program provides a hybrid, hands-on professional development experience that blends mentorship, leadership training, and real-world problem-solving.

Eligible applicants must be mid-career professionals with 5–15 years of experience in a role related to climate adaptation, working within an organization registered in an eligible Commonwealth SIDS. They should be committed to continuing their work in this field for the next 10–20 years and hold a valid employment contract extending at least until February 2027. Applicants must also be citizens or hold refugee status in one of the eligible countries, including nations across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific such as Fiji, the Maldives, Seychelles, Jamaica, and Papua New Guinea.

This fellowship offers multiple benefits beyond funding. Participants will gain leadership development opportunities, global exposure, and practical skills to design and execute climate resilience projects. The program’s structure encourages collaboration among experts from diverse backgrounds, fostering shared learning and innovation in addressing global climate challenges.

Interested candidates must apply online through the MyACU portal, complete the application form accurately, and upload all required documents, including a CV, national ID or passport, a letter of support, and an action plan. Applicants are encouraged to submit their materials well before the deadline.

The final date to apply for the King’s Commonwealth Climate Resilience Fellowships 2026 is 19 November 2025. This program represents a transformative opportunity for professionals dedicated to shaping climate-resilient futures and advancing sustainable development across vulnerable island nations.
