Pakistan’s mobile phone imports reached Rs. 226 billion in the first five months of fiscal year 2026, marking an increase of more than 40 percent compared to the same period last year, according to official data. Between July and November FY26, imports totaled $801 million, driven by rising consumer demand. While month-on-month imports increased in November, year-on-year figures showed a slight decline.
At the same time, domestic mobile phone manufacturing remained robust, with over 25 million units produced or assembled in 2025. This strong local production not only outpaced commercial imports but also supported the expansion of Pakistan’s growing telecom sector, highlighting the balance between domestic manufacturing and import-driven demand in the country’s mobile industry.
