The Pakistan government is set to auction 600 MHz of spectrum next month to enhance high-speed and reliable internet services across the country. Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima confirmed that the cabinet has approved the spectrum auction, which is expected to improve 4G speeds and facilitate the rollout of 5G services nationwide.

Shaza Fatima emphasized the government’s commitment to youth development, noting that over half a million young people have been trained in various fields in the past eighteen months. She highlighted the strategic focus on digital transformation, with ongoing efforts aimed at achieving fully digitized governance across Pakistan.

The minister also praised the performance of IT exports, which surpassed 3.8 billion dollars this year, growing at an average rate of 20 percent. Under the Connect 2030 Vision, Pakistan plans to increase average internet speeds to 100 Mbps, expand fiber connectivity, release 1,000 MHz of spectrum, and ensure its 5G rollout meets global standards, a strategy projected to generate billions of dollars in economic benefits over the next four years.

Recent policy initiatives, including the Digital Nation Pakistan Act and Right-of-Way reforms, have removed all fees on fiber deployment nationwide, supporting faster digital infrastructure development and promoting technology-led growth throughout the country.
