At Liaquat University Hospital, an alarming incident has emerged where staff at the casualty ward reportedly refused to treat an unidentified man brought in by Edhi Foundation volunteers, claiming he was “too unclean” and needed to be bathed before receiving medical attention.

According to Mohammad Mukhtiar, incharge of the Edhi Centre, ambulance driver Tahir Ali discovered the man nearly unconscious in Hala Naka, with one of his hands trapped in a sewage drain, after being alerted by police. The patient was bleeding from the mouth and required immediate medical intervention.

Tahir Ali, alongside a Rescue 1122 worker, lifted the man from the street and obtained a police letter to authorize emergency treatment. Despite these efforts, staff at Liaquat University Hospital allegedly delayed care, highlighting serious concerns about patient handling, emergency protocols, and medical ethics. The incident has drawn criticism from the public and raised urgent questions about the treatment of vulnerable individuals in medical facilities.
