Residents of Gulistan-e-Jauhar in Karachi are facing a serious health and sanitation emergency after a major sewage line burst flooded residential flats and contaminated water storage tanks with wastewater. Reports indicate that the damaged line allowed sewage to enter apartments, while nearby roads partially collapsed due to the pressure of continuous overflow, worsening the situation for local residents.

The problem has continued for more than 24 hours, with residents expressing frustration over the lack of response from city authorities. The situation has become more alarming as drinking water pipelines in the area are reported to have mixed with sewage, increasing the risk of contamination. In the Gulistan-e-Jauhar housing project, which includes more than 3,000 flats, multiple water tanks have been affected, heightening fears of a possible outbreak of waterborne diseases and posing a serious threat to public health.
