Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi has stated that a final decision regarding Pakistan’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be taken either this Friday or next Monday. He shared that the matter has been discussed at the highest level, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif being briefed on the situation and advising officials to keep all options open before reaching a conclusion.
The development follows reports that the International Cricket Council rejected a request from the Bangladesh Cricket Board to shift its matches out of India, which has triggered speculation about possible repercussions for regional teams, including Pakistan. These reports have led to discussions around Pakistan’s stance and participation framework for the upcoming tournament.
Under the existing ICC agreement that runs until 2027, Pakistan is scheduled to play its matches at neutral venues rather than in India. Sri Lanka has been identified as one of the neutral host locations for Pakistan’s fixtures, in line with previously agreed arrangements. The PCB is expected to announce its final position soon after completing consultations and reviewing all available options.
