Brazil Confirms 2029 Club World Cup Bid During Lula’s Meeting with FIFA President Infantino

Brazil is preparing to submit a bid to host the 2029 Club World Cup, confirmed by the head of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Samir Xaud, following a meeting between President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The discussions took place at the Planalto Palace in Brasília and included Sports Minister Andre Fufuca and Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti. Xaud emphasized that Brazil has the capacity to host the tournament, but careful planning and coordination are required, confirming the country’s intention to officially bid for the event.

FIFA has not yet opened the bidding process for the 2029 Club World Cup. The first expanded edition of the tournament took place last year in the United States, where Chelsea claimed the championship. Competing bids are anticipated from Spain, Morocco, and Qatar. Unlike the World Cup, which has predetermined host nations such as Spain, Morocco, and Portugal for 2030, the Club World Cup bidding process operates independently, marking a shift from previous practice where tournaments like the Confederations Cup acted as preparatory events for the World Cup.

Infantino’s visit to Brazil also coincided with preparations for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, which Brazil will host for the first time. FIFA recently revealed the official branding for the tournament, which will feature 32 teams competing from June to July, highlighting Brazil’s growing role as a key host for international football events.
