FIFA President Gianni Infantino has committed to rebuilding all football facilities in Gaza following the recent ceasefire agreement. Speaking at the Summit for Peace in Egypt, which was co-chaired by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Infantino highlighted the unifying power of football and its potential to bring hope to communities recovering from conflict.
He announced the launch of a dedicated fund to support the reconstruction of Gaza’s football infrastructure, with plans to collaborate closely with the Palestinian Football Association to introduce new tournaments and initiatives aimed at revitalizing the sport in the region.
In a separate show of solidarity, Qatar national team captain Hassan Al Haydos celebrated his country's qualification for the 2026 World Cup by posting a message of support for the people of Gaza. Wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh in a photo shared on social media, he reminded followers that moments of celebration should also be used to reflect on the suffering of others around the world.
Al Haydos further announced a personal donation to help rebuild a school and a gymnasium in Gaza, underlining the importance of education and sports in restoring a sense of hope and stability for children and communities affected by crisis.
