Nintendo Switch 2 to Launch “Light Purple” and “Light Green” Joy-Con Colors Ahead of Mario Tennis Fever Release

Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 will receive two new Joy-Con controller colors for the first time since its launch, set to release on February 12 alongside Mario Tennis Fever. The new colors, Light Purple and Light Green, follow the console’s existing design style, featuring color accents on the joystick and connection points while keeping the main shell dark gray.

Until now, the only Joy-Con options were the standard red and blue set included with the console, offering fewer choices than the original Nintendo Switch, which launched with both Neon Red/Blue and gray models. The limited color selection made it harder to distinguish between multiple Switch 2 consoles in a household or during local multiplayer sessions. The new Joy-Con colors mark the first official chance for players to personalize their Switch 2 devices.

The controllers are priced at $99.99 each and are available for pre-order through Nintendo’s website. This pricing is consistent with Nintendo’s trend of higher hardware costs but has not deterred the console from maintaining market presence.

Despite these updates, market performance remains mixed. A report from November indicated that Switch 2 recorded the lowest console sales volume for Nintendo in recent years, suggesting that the platform’s long-term momentum and adoption are still under observation.
