At Least 13 Killed in Gaza Amid Israeli Strikes Despite Fragile Ceasefire

Israeli airstrikes in Gaza on Thursday killed at least 13 people, including five children, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency, despite a US-brokered ceasefire that has largely reduced hostilities.

Four people, including three children, were killed when a drone struck a tent sheltering displaced civilians in southern Gaza, agency spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP. In northern Gaza, an 11-year-old girl was killed near the Jabalia refugee camp, while a strike on a school claimed one life. Another man was killed by a drone strike near Khan Yunis in the south, and two additional Gazans, including a child, were killed in other attacks, Bassal added. Later in the evening, four more people died when an Israeli airstrike targeted a house in eastern Gaza City, and rescue teams began searching for missing residents.

The Israeli military said it was reviewing the reported casualties. Earlier, it claimed a projectile was launched from Gaza City toward Israel but fell inside Gaza, prompting a targeted strike on the launch site.

Since October 10, a fragile truce has largely paused fighting between Hamas and Israeli forces, though both sides have reported violations. Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem condemned Thursday’s attacks, stating they demonstrate Israel’s disregard for the ceasefire.

Gaza’s health ministry reports that Israeli operations have killed at least 425 Palestinians since the ceasefire began, while Israeli forces say militants have killed three of their soldiers during the same period. November 22 saw one of the deadliest days of the truce, with 21 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes.
