The Punjab Masstransit Authority has unveiled official details of the Murree Glass Train, an eco-friendly electric monorail designed to simplify travel between Islamabad and the Murree hill station. The project is set to provide a scenic, fast, and environmentally sustainable alternative to road travel, reducing traffic congestion and emissions.
The train will operate from Lake View Park in Islamabad to a station near the Murree bus stop, completing the journey in approximately 40 minutes. Along the route, there will be four stations: Lake View Park, Chattar Park, Ghora Gali, and the final stop near the Murree bus stand.
Two fare categories have been introduced: standard tickets at Rs. 500 and premium tickets at Rs. 1,000. The glass-walled train will offer panoramic views of the surrounding hills, enhancing the tourism experience while promoting green travel. Additional information about the launch date and operational schedule is expected to be announced soon.
