The UAE has maintained its position as the world’s strongest passport for the seventh consecutive year, according to the Passport Index 2025 by Arton Capital. While global travel freedom has declined, the Emirati passport remains at the top, even as major passports like those of the UK, US, and Canada have lost mobility.

The UAE passport now provides visa-free access to 129 destinations, visa-on-arrival in 45 countries, and ETA access to eight, giving it a Mobility Score of 179, the highest globally. Experts attribute this to the UAE’s sustained diplomatic efforts, digital modernisation, and growing global economic influence. Expanding international partnerships, including increased ETA access in countries like Canada, have further strengthened the passport’s reach.

The ranking underscores the growing importance of powerful passports in a world with tighter travel restrictions. For UAE citizens, strong mobility facilitates business, education, and tourism opportunities, while also boosting the broader economy through enhanced investment and international connectivity.

The report also reveals shifts in global rankings, with Singapore rising to second place and Malaysia entering the top tier for the first time. European passports saw notable declines, losing multiple visa-free destinations, while the UK, US, and Canada continued to slip due to stricter entry rules. As a global mobility hub, the UAE continues to stand out for its accessible and influential passport.
