Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has announced the launch of the second phase of the province’s electric scooter distribution scheme, expanding the government’s push to promote eco-friendly transport and strengthen mobility for women. The initiative builds on the success of the first phase and is designed to offer safer, more reliable, and accessible travel options for women, particularly in cities where congestion, long commutes, and limited transport choices often hinder daily movement.
Officials explained that the introduction of electric scooters aligns with Sindh’s broader green transport agenda. The EV scooties are not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly, reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to conventional vehicles. This shift toward electric mobility is expected to contribute to cleaner urban environments and support the province’s long-term sustainability goals.
The Sindh Mass Transit Authority has opened registrations for free Pink EV Scooties in Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Hyderabad. Public announcements confirm that the scheme is available to both students and working women, providing them an opportunity to secure personal transport without financial burden. Selected beneficiaries will receive seven days of free practical training to help them operate the vehicle confidently and will also be assisted in obtaining a driving license.
Memon stated that the second phase of the scheme is expected to benefit a significantly larger number of women, enabling them to travel independently for education, work, and other daily needs. He noted that the government considers the program a key investment in women’s empowerment, as improved mobility directly enhances access to opportunities, safety, and economic participation. The initiative also reflects the province’s commitment to modernizing its transport system through sustainable solutions.
