Punjab has achieved a remarkable national milestone by issuing over 2 million driving licences within just 18 days, setting a new record in the country. This rapid achievement was made possible under the directives of the provincial government, which prioritized efficient and accessible licensing services for citizens.
Authorities confirmed that a variety of licences—including learner permits, regular driving licences, renewals, and international driving permits—were issued through both physical service centres and the provincial online portal. The online and home-based licensing system proved especially popular, with more than one million citizens taking advantage of this facility, streamlining the process and reducing the need for in-person visits.
Officials highlighted that this large-scale issuance of licences not only facilitated convenience for citizens but also contributed to improving road safety across Punjab. By ensuring that drivers are properly licensed, the initiative aims to reduce traffic accidents and promote compliance with traffic regulations. Citizens have been advised to always carry their valid physical or e-driving licences while on the road to avoid penalties and ensure smooth travel.
This achievement reflects the provincial government’s focus on modernization, digital services, and public welfare, making driving licence acquisition faster, more secure, and widely accessible.
