The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has introduced a comprehensive Ramadan Relief Plan aimed at providing maximum ease and comfort to the public during the holy month. The plan was reviewed in a high-level meeting chaired by KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, who issued detailed directives to all relevant departments and district administrations for effective implementation.
As part of the initiative, price monitoring desks have been established in all districts to continuously oversee the prices of essential commodities. Authorities have been instructed to take strict action against hoarding, adulteration, inflation, and profiteering, with additional price magistrates assigned to ensure swift enforcement. Cooperation and coordination with market associations and traders have been emphasized to maintain fairness, while district administrations are directed to treat all citizens, including street vendors, with dignity and compassion.
A joint strategy is being developed with religious scholars to discourage adulteration, price hikes, and profiteering, and public awareness campaigns will be conducted through Friday sermons to highlight moral responsibility during Ramadan. Plans have also been prepared for traffic management, market cleanliness, and organized elimination of professional begging to ensure public spaces remain orderly and dignified.
Ramadan Dastarkhwans will be set up in various locations with support from philanthropists and welfare organizations to provide meals to the needy, while coordination with relevant authorities will ensure uninterrupted electricity and gas supply. Dedicated WhatsApp numbers and the Marastyal App have been established in all districts for citizens to report price hikes, shortages, or other complaints promptly.
The Chief Secretary reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the public during Ramadan and pledged that all available resources will be used to provide maximum relief throughout the blessed month.
