The Punjab government has unveiled plans to develop a “Ship Restaurant” on the Lahore Canal near Jallo, aiming to boost tourism and introduce a unique recreational attraction in the provincial capital. The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Lahore has already invited tenders for the project, which has received formal approval from the provincial government.

PHA Director General Raja Mansoor stated that the Ship Restaurant is expected to be completed within the current fiscal year. Designed as a floating-style restaurant, the three-storey facility will offer visitors a distinctive dining experience on the canal. The restaurant will feature dedicated kitchen and parking areas and will have the capacity to accommodate around 200 guests at a time. Entry to the venue will be free, with visitors paying only for the meals they order.

To maintain high standards of service and food quality, the PHA plans to outsource restaurant management to a reputable food chain. DG Raja Mansoor emphasized that the Ship Restaurant will become a landmark project for Lahore’s tourism sector, providing citizens and visitors with a scenic and innovative venue for leisure and dining along the iconic Lahore Canal.

The initiative reflects the provincial government’s broader efforts to enhance public spaces, promote recreational tourism, and offer new experiences for residents, further positioning Lahore as a vibrant and tourist-friendly city.
