Sonia Mustafa from Quetta started her football journey 25 years ago as a player, overcoming numerous challenges such as limited facilities and scarce opportunities. Despite these obstacles, her passion for the sport never wavered. Through determination, she completed the referee course and successfully passed FIFA’s physical fitness test in Lahore, making her the first football referee from Balochistan—an important milestone in the region’s sports history. Today, Sonia officiates national-level matches for both boys and girls, contributing significantly to the game. While she acknowledges that conditions for female athletes in Balochistan have improved over the years, she points out that the lack of basic facilities continues to hinder progress.
