Saudi Arabia Bans Photography and Video Recording in Masjid al-Haram, Masjid an-Nabawi to Ensure Pilgrim Safety and Spiritual Focus

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced a strict ban on photography and video recording inside the two holiest mosques, Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. The decision aims to address concerns about crowding, disruptions during prayer times, and the intrusion of worshippers’ personal space caused by selfies, group photos, and videos.

Under the new rule, security personnel will actively enforce the ban to ensure a peaceful and focused environment for all worshippers. The restrictions are also extended to key locations along the Hajj route, helping to maintain order, manage large crowds, and enhance the spiritual experience for pilgrims. Authorities emphasize that the measure is intended to allow visitors to fully engage in prayer without interruptions from photography or video recording.
