Elon Musk’s Starlink Provides Free Internet in Venezuela Amid Political Crisis

0 0

Elon Musk’s Starlink has begun providing free broadband internet access to users in Venezuela until February 3, following recent U.S. airstrikes and the capture of ousted leader Nicolas Maduro. The satellite internet provider announced that service credits are being automatically applied to both active and inactive accounts as it monitors the evolving situation and complies with regulatory requirements.

Starlink clarified that there is no confirmed timeline for when customers will be able to officially purchase the service locally, with updates to be shared exclusively through its official channels. The service, operated by SpaceX, relies on low-Earth-orbit satellites and requires users to have separate Starlink equipment to connect. Although Venezuela is listed as “coming soon” on Starlink’s website, some users currently appear to have access. It remains uncertain how service availability and pricing will change once the temporary free access period ends on February 3.
