New tax assessments and revised retail price estimates for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series are expected to take effect within the next week. The updated lineup covers the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and the flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra, with significantly lower customs values translating into more affordable PTA-approved prices in Pakistan.
For the standard Samsung Galaxy S23, the current customs value has been set at $140, which converts to approximately Rs. 36,397 based on prevailing exchange rates. On this value, the PTA tax comes to around Rs. 19,217 when registered on a CNIC, while registration through a passport reduces the tax to about Rs. 17,236. When these taxes are added to the customs value and combined with an estimated retailer margin, the expected final retail price of a PTA-approved Galaxy S23 is close to Rs. 55,000.
The Samsung Galaxy S23+ carries a slightly higher customs value of $160, equivalent to roughly Rs. 44,796. Based on this valuation, the PTA tax is estimated at around Rs. 20,225 on CNIC registration, while passport registration brings it down to approximately Rs. 18,244. After accounting for taxes and general retail margins, the Galaxy S23+ is expected to reach the market with a final price of around Rs. 65,000.
The biggest price impact is expected on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The customs value for the Ultra model is currently set at $255, which converts to about Rs. 71,393. With this valuation, PTA taxes are estimated at roughly Rs. 29,313 on CNIC and around Rs. 26,852 on passport registration. After adding retailer margins, the final PTA-approved retail price of the Galaxy S23 Ultra is projected to be close to Rs. 100,000, making it considerably more accessible than before.
These figures are based on current tax values and exchange rates and should be treated as estimates. Actual retail prices may vary by Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 depending on individual retailer margins, market demand, and final implementation of the revised tax structure.
