The Government of Japan has announced the 2026 Teachers Training Scholarships, offering Pakistani schoolteachers an opportunity to receive advanced professional training and conduct education-focused research in Japan. The scholarship, provided through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, is aimed at experienced educators working in primary and secondary schools as well as teacher-training institutions. The program is designed to enhance teaching skills, familiarize participants with Japan’s education system, and facilitate the exchange of best educational practices.
Selected teachers will participate in an 18-month, non-degree training and research program at designated Japanese universities. Upon completion, participants will receive a professional development certificate rather than an academic degree, as the focus is on improving practical teaching expertise.
The program includes Japanese language training to help participants adapt to academic and research activities in Japan, as much of the instruction and guidance is delivered in Japanese. Language preparation is therefore a key part of the scholarship experience.
Eligible applicants must have been born on or after April 2, 1991, hold a recognized university degree or teacher-training qualification, and possess at least five years of teaching experience by October 1, 2026. Candidates from primary and secondary schools, as well as teacher-training institutions, may apply, while university faculty members are not eligible. Applicants must also be in good physical and mental health and demonstrate readiness to live and study in a foreign country.
The deadline for submitting applications is February 12, 2026. Interested teachers are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria and application procedures carefully before applying to ensure they meet all requirements.
