The Punjab government has launched a major financial support initiative for college teaching interns, approving a Rs. 4.217 billion stipend package to benefit over 8,000 young educators serving in public sector colleges across the province. The program is designed to provide financial stability, professional experience, and equal opportunities for aspiring teachers.

Under the new policy, interns teaching at the intermediate level will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 55,000, while those instructing BS-level classes will earn Rs. 65,000 per month. The internship duration will be seven months for intermediate programs and ten months for BS programs, after which each participant will be awarded an official experience certificate acknowledging their service and contribution to education.

The initiative emphasizes inclusivity and diversity within Punjab’s higher education system. Of the total positions, 404 have been reserved for minorities, 243 for persons with disabilities, and 40 for members of the transgender community, ensuring equitable access and representation.

According to officials, the entire Rs. 4.217 billion allocation will cover stipend payments and administrative expenses, guaranteeing that interns receive timely financial support. The program has been widely appreciated by educators and students for offering financial relief while addressing the shortage of teaching staff in government colleges.

By empowering young educators, promoting diversity, and enhancing teaching quality, the Punjab government aims to strengthen academic excellence and create a more inclusive, progressive education system across the province.
