Amazon to Add 250,000 Holiday Jobs in 2025, Maintains Seasonal Hiring Amid Slower Online Sales Forecast

Amazon has announced plans to hire 250,000 workers for the upcoming holiday season across its U.S. fulfillment and transportation networks, maintaining the same hiring scale as in the past two years. This move comes as the company anticipates a seasonal surge in online orders, despite broader concerns about cautious consumer spending.

Economic uncertainty linked to President Donald Trump’s tariff policies has raised questions about shoppers’ willingness to spend during the holidays. Still, according to Adobe Analytics, while overall growth in U.S. holiday online sales may slow compared to previous years, e-commerce is expected to continue outperforming traditional retail.

Amazon stated that the latest tariffs on Chinese goods are unlikely to significantly affect holiday sales, as most inventory for the season has already been imported. To support its operations, the company will be offering full-time and part-time roles with hourly wages of up to $23 and benefits, while seasonal employees will earn an average of over $19 per hour.

This hiring initiative follows Amazon’s recent announcement of a $1 billion investment aimed at improving compensation and lowering healthcare costs for its fulfillment and transportation workforce in the U.S.
